In 2024, the biggest income tax raid in Indian history took place in Odisha and lasted for ten days. The spirits firm Boudh Distilleries Private Limited had many departments searched by Income Tax inspectors during this operation. A substantial sum of Rs 352 crore was recovered at this time.
In addition to using a scanning wheel machine to find assets hidden beneath the earth during the raids, the IT department set up 36 additional devices specifically for this purpose in order to count the notes.
