Goa, January 27, 2026: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune Global 500 company and a Maharatna PSU, has taken another significant step towards strengthening India’s aviation fuel infrastructure with the signing of an agreement to construct a dedicated Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) pipeline from its Malkapur Installation to the Fuel Farm at GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL).
The agreement, signed on January 27, 2026, marks a strategic collaboration aimed at ensuring reliable, efficient and environmentally sustainable fuel supply to one of India’s fastest-growing airports. The agreement was signed by Shri Sujit Kumar, Chief General Manager – Marketing (Aviation), BPCL, and Mr. Ashish Kumar, Chief Commercial Officer, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited.
Commenting on the development, Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Business Head – Aviation, BPCL, said, “BPCL has been a pioneer in establishing aviation fuel facilities and allied infrastructure across Indian airports since the early growth of the aviation sector. This dedicated ATF pipeline reinforces our continued commitment to building robust, future-ready energy infrastructure while actively reducing carbon emissions by minimising road transportation of fuel.”

Echoing similar views, Mr. Pradeep Panicker, Chief Executive Officer, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited, said, “We are pleased to partner with BPCL on the development of a common-use fuel transportation pipeline. This initiative aligns closely with our vision of delivering cost-efficient and sustainable solutions. By reducing carbon emissions and enhancing operational efficiency, this project represents an important step towards building a greener future—an imperative in today’s world.”
The proposed ATF pipeline will span over 56 kilometres, including approximately one kilometre within the airport premises. Once operational, the pipeline will function on a common carrier basis, facilitating seamless and efficient transportation of aviation fuel while significantly reducing dependence on road-based fuel logistics.
Aligned with BPCL’s commitment to operational excellence and sustainability, the pipeline is expected to substantially cut carbon emissions by eliminating large-scale ATF transportation through tank lorries, thereby enhancing safety, efficiency and environmental performance.
