The Union Home Minister has introduced the e-Zero FIR initiative as a pilot project in Delhi. This project is part of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C). Its goal is to make investigating cyber financial crimes more efficient and support the vision of a cyber-secure India.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has introduced a new program called e-Zero FIR to fight cybercrimes more quickly. This initiative is part of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and was announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on May 20, 2025. Its main goal is to allow fast registration of FIRs for cases involving large amounts of online financial fraud. The system is currently running as a trial in Delhi. It will automatically turn complaints made through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) or helpline 1930 into Zero FIRs for cases where losses exceed ₹10 lakh. This change will help police respond faster and catch cybercriminals more efficiently.
In a statement, the MHA said, “
“This initiative will improve the conversion of NCRP/1930 complaints into FIRs, enabling easy restoration of money lost by victims and facilitating punitive action action against cyber criminals.”
