Covid-19 cases are rising quickly across Asia. Hong Kong, Singapore, China, and Thailand are seeing more infections. Meanwhile, India has not reported any increase in cases.

The virus that first appeared over five years ago is making a concerning comeback in parts of Asia. Major cities like Hong Kong and Singapore are reporting big jumps in cases. China and Thailand are also experiencing new outbreaks. This surge is happening at a time when respiratory illnesses usually decline.

Hong Kong’s health officials have issued a warning after a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases. Albert Au, head of the city’s Communicable Disease Branch, said that more respiratory samples are testing positive than in the past year.

In the week ending May 3, Hong Kong recorded 31 severe Covid-19 cases. This is the highest weekly total in a year. Tests of sewage also show higher levels of the virus. More residents are visiting clinics or hospitals with symptoms linked to Covid.

The increase has affected the city’s entertainment scene as well. Well-known singer Eason Chan tested positive and had to cancel concerts in Taiwan. His case has brought more attention to the virus surge and the need for caution.
