The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a hassle-free process for
transferring provident fund (PF) accounts, eliminating the need for routing requests through
previous or current employers. This move aims to make job transitions smoother for
employees.
The new rules apply under specific conditions:
Same UAN Linked to Aadhaar (Post-2017): If your Universal Account Number (UAN) was
issued on or after October 1, 2017, and is linked to Aadhaar, transfers between associated
member IDs are seamless.
Pre-2017 UANs: Even UANs issued before October 2017 are eligible if they’re Aadhaar-linked
and have consistent details like name, gender, and date of birth.
Employees can initiate these transfers directly through the EPFO’s Member e-Sewa portal. To
ensure eligibility, linking Aadhaar with your UAN is crucial.
This reform is expected to cut delays and improve efficiency, empowering employees to handle
their PF accounts independently during job changes. By leveraging technology, the EPFO has
