Archer Aviation has entered into a partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, marking the latter as the second customer intending to implement Archer’s Midnight as part of the “Launch Edition” initiative. Ethiopian Airlines, recognized as Africa’s largest airline and a distinguished member of the Star Alliance, boasts a vast global network that connects over 140 international destinations across five continents. The two entities will collaborate to establish an all-electric air taxi network in the region.

In February 2025, Archer unveiled the Launch Edition program, aimed at developing a scalable framework for the safe deployment of aircraft in early adopter markets. This initiative will allow the company to showcase the capabilities of its Midnight aircraft, foster public acceptance, accumulate operational experience, and generate initial revenue.

Archer aims to revolutionize urban transportation by substituting lengthy car commutes of 60 to 90 minutes with electric air taxi flights that are projected to take only 10 to 20 minutes. These flights are designed to be safe, environmentally friendly, quiet, and competitively priced compared to traditional ground transport. The Archer Midnight is a piloted aircraft that accommodates four passengers and is engineered for quick, consecutive trips with minimal downtime for recharging between flights.

Clean, fast, and futuristic — this move aims to reduce congestion and emissions while transforming urban mobility in Africa.
