New Delhi: Announced the list of these seven national all-party delegations on Saturday. The teams will travel to 32 nations and the European Union headquarters in Brussels. Their journey is set to start on May 23. The purpose of these visits is to oppose terrorism and update international partners about India’s recent military operations, called Operation Sindoor. This operation began on May 7, after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, last month.
The delegations will be led by prominent politicians, including BJP Members Baijayant Jay Panda and Ravi Shankar Prasad, Congress’s Shashi Tharoor, JDU leader Sanjay Jha, Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Shinde, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, and NCP leader Supriya Sule. They will focus on spreading India’s message and strengthening international cooperation against terrorism.
Seven teams, made up of 59 members, are traveling to different countries to show India’s stance that terrorism is not acceptable. Of these members, 31 are from the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), and 20 belong to other political groups. Assistance is provided by former diplomats as well.
India-Pakistan Tensions
India links the attack in Pahalgam on April 22 to cross-border groups. The attack killed 26 people. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7. Indian forces targeted nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistani-controlled Kashmir. They destroyed facilities belonging to groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen. Over 100 terrorists were killed during these strikes.
Pakistan responded by sending drones and missiles into western parts of India. Indian forces intercepted these attacks successfully. In return, India also struck military targets deep inside Pakistan. After four days of fighting involving drones and missiles, both countries agreed to stop hostilities. The ceasefire took effect on May 10, and military actions ended immediately.
