The movie is scheduled to be released countrywide tomorrow, Thursday, June 5, although the case is still pending in Karnataka.
Karnataka will not be able to see Kamal Haasan’s flick Thug Life, but will that actually affect the movie?

The producers may lose about Rs 12 crore, according to industry insiders, which is a lot less than the notoriety the movie has gotten as a result of the dispute.

Producers often invest between Rs 30 and Rs 50 crore for the promotion of every big-budget movie, with little assurance as to the final profit margin. There was not much of a buzz about Thug Life prior to the controversy. However, the movie has continuously made headlines since the dispute started.

Although the movie’s lawsuit is still pending in court, it is scheduled to be released countrywide tomorrow, Thursday, June 5, outside of Karnataka.

“A loss of Rs 7 to 8 crore could result from the film not being released in Karnataka,” says film trade analyst Girish Wankhede.

However, this loss might potentially become a gain if we take that sum into account as part of the movie’s marketing budget, which has greatly raised its profile and created buzz. The world is now aware that Mani Ratnam is the director of Thug Life, which stars Kamal Haasan and has music by AR Rahman. The movie hardly received any attention prior to the issue.

“The film’s advance booking in Hindi alone stands at approximately Rs 65 lakh,” says Raj Bansal, a movie distributor and theater owner. Advance reservations for all languages have already surpassed Rs 10 crore, and more are anticipated before the film’s release.

Indian 2, Kamal Haasan’s most recent release, was a box office failure. Vikram, his most recent hit, had an incredible run, grossing Rs 247.32 crore in India and Rs 414.43 crore globally.
