US President Donald Trump has once again warned BRICS nations, including India, that he will impose 100% tariffs on trade if the bloc moves forward with plans to replace the US dollar. In his speech on Monday, following his inauguration as the 47th president, Trump made it clear that any such attempt would not be tolerated.
“If the BRICS nations want to do that, that’s okay, but we’re going to put at least a 100% tariff on the business they do with the United States,” he said, stressing the severe penalties they would face.
